Microphone Muted By System - Windows

There are times when the microphone on Windows gets blocked by an application and Google Meet reports that the microphone can’t be used during the meeting.

The following steps will allow users to unmute the microphone so it can be used in Google Meet.

Procedure

  1. Open the Control Panel

     

  2. Click on Hardware and Sound

     

  3. Click on Manage audio devices under Sound

     

  4. Click on the Recording tab

     

  5. Right-click the microphone that you are using (headset, laptop microphone, etc.) and click Properties

     

  6. Click on the Levels tab

     

  7. Unmute the microphone with the button next to the microphone slider

     

  8. Click Ok to apply the changes
