How to set up 1Password

This article is to assist in the setup of 1password for MedTrainer employees.

Instructions

1. Install a two-factor authentication app on your smartphone

2. Start creating your 1password account by clicking here

3. Enter your email on the screen and click Continue

4. Check your inbox for the email inviting you to join the team and click Join your team

5. Enter your full name and click Continue

6. Enter a master password and click Continue

It is recommended to use a password that you have not used before and one that isn’t easy to guess. Make sure that you remember this password as it will serve as the protection for all of the items that you save in 1password.

7. Sign in to your newly created account on the next screen to continue the process.

8. In order to secure your account, you will have to set up 2 factor authentication by clicking Set up app

9. You will be presented with a QR code and a string of text. You will need to scan the QR code or enter the string of text into the app that you downloaded in Step 1. Once you have successfully obtained a six digit code, click next

10. Enter the six digit code from the previous step and click confirm

11. You will be prompted to download your Emergency Kit which contains your Secret Key, the email associated with your account and the login URL for the account. It will also have a space for your master password and a QR code that you can scan with the 1password desktop or mobile apps to make signing in easier.

Keep your Emergency Kit Safe! This document contains most of your sign-in information. We recommend printing it out and storing it somewhere safe and also saving a copy to your cloud storage.

 

Congratulations! You’ve successfully set up 1password. This application will allow you to save more than just passwords and logins. You can save the details of software licenses, legal documents and even credit cards in here securely.
